Julie and The Phantoms: Season 1 Soundtrack
If you are anything like me and can’t get enough of the jams from the Netflix show Julie and The Phantoms, you’re in luck. Their soundtrack is available on all streaming services! College kids everywhere have latched onto this show and have made the fandom bigger. Each song is electric and you will learn the words to every song in a heartbeat. Personally, I can’t choose a favorite song. All of the songs have different energies, which make them easy to love and able to offer something for all different listeners. I guarantee you will find a song you like on this album no matter your musical taste!

“Wonder” by Shawn Mendes
Although the album’s full release is set for Dec. 4, the anticipation is thrilling. The songs he has currently released are “Intro” and “Wonder.” Both have melodies that will put you in a trance. “Intro” has a whimsical vibe to it that makes you feel like you’re entering a wonderland. “Wonder” makes you feel unstoppable; it is one of those songs that is almost therapeutic. With Mendes’ powerful vocals and intoxicating rhythms, these songs are easy to love. We should all be looking forward to what is in store for the rest of this album.

Mama’s Boy by LANY
The band LANY is unmistakable; they have a signature sound that is so unique yet calming. Their music is perfect for studying or for just chilling out and even for a rainy day. Their new album, Mama’s Boy, does not disappoint. It really represents their style as a band. My personal favorites from the album are “anything 4 u,” “nobody else,” “paper” and “bad news.” Each song tells a very personal story, yet I still feel like I can relate to it. The songs can easily apply to anyone even though they’re only about one person. The album also uses beautiful imagery to portray its message. I would definitely put both LANY and Mama’s Boy on your radar!

Tickets to My Downfall by Machine Gun Kelly
Machine Gun Kelly was the edgy artist I wanted to be when I was at the peak of my emo phase (...but let’s be real, I’m still in that phase). His raspy vocals mixed with an alternative and rock foundation make the album a masterpiece. My personal favorites from the album are “bloody valentine,” “body bag” and his cover of Paramore’s “Misery Business.” Overall, this album makes me remember why I love alternative and rock so much. I give praise to Machine Gun Kelly for making such a great album.

“Lie Like This” by Julia Micheals
The second I hit play on this track, I was in love. However, I may be biased because I am a huge fan of Julia Michaels’ work. If you aren’t aware, Julia Michaels has written most of your favorite songs such as “Sorry” by Justin Bieber and most of Selena Gomez’s discography. This song, however, is the true definition of a jam. It immediately will make you want to dance. For being such an upbeat and fun song, it is brutally honest. It describes relationship elements that can sometimes be prevalent and how sometimes we aren’t always the “rom-com” versions of ourselves in relationships. We can be dysfunctional. It truly is a well-crafted track that I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Confetti by Little Mix
Confetti, which will be released on Nov. 6 of this year, will be Little Mix’s sixth album, and they have definitely not lost any momentum. They are, I believe, the defining girl group of the last decade and the next. The United States has not given them the attention they most definitely deserve because they are based in the UK. Even though the album is not out yet, every song they have released thus far is a banger! My personal favorites so far are “Happiness” and “Break Up Song.” They are so empowering and upbeat that it makes it hard for anyone to not listen. The women of Little Mix definitely spread their talent like confetti, and we should all be thankful for it.

Still On Repeat:
Love Is Dead and We Killed Her by Doll Skin
I discovered Doll Skin a year ago, and I am better for it. Last November I had the chance to see them live, which only fueled my love for their work. The honest and raw power of their music is inspiring. The whole band has such a passion for their instruments and the music they create. Their third album, Love Is Dead and We Killed Her, has such an agreeable power that it reignited my love for the rock genre. My personal favorites from the album are the title track “Love Is Dead and We Killed Her,” “Mark My Words,” “Outta My Mind” and “Nasty Man.”

Jolene by Dolly Parton
I don’t know if anyone else feels this, but I believe it’s always good to listen to some Dolly. Lately, I have been listening to the title track of this album, “Jolene,” and “I Will Always Love You” a lot. This album is one of those classics that are always good. It’s just a staple and not only in country music. I also feel like it is a great fall season album because of its soft rhythm. It makes you feel like you’re the main character every time you give it a listen.

“All I Wanted” and “Decode” by Paramore
I can’t lie, TikTok got me back into these songs released in 2008 and 2009. Hayley Williams has a gift unlike any other; she is such a vocal powerhouse. I find it very funny that TikTok made a lot of people relisten to “All I Wanted,” and it’s kind of ironic because this is one track that Williams will not play live because the vocals are in a specific range. As for “Decode,” I decided to revisit my Twilight phase, and “Decode” is on the first movie soundtrack. Both of these Paramore songs make me reminisce about good times from my childhood, and therefore are very fun listens for me!
